Manual lymph drainage (MLD) is a very special type of massage designed to stimulate the lymphatic system. The hand movements and sequences are adapted for each person. Each session will last approximately 30 minutes.
The session follows a particular sequence, using a series of massage techniques, including stretching, compressing, gliding, and cupping motions. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels which carry substances vital to the defence of the body and removes waste products. The method makes the lymph fluid move easily through the nodes and tissues, making sure the fluid doesn't get trapped anywhere.
Depending on the condition, treatment can be upper or lower body (localised to the area needed). If you are suffering from tired feet or water retention, manual lymphatic massage drainage during pregnancy can be helpful.
